When talking about mountain biking in the Community of Madrid it is almost always limited to routes and paths through the Sierra de Guadarrama. However, both in the surroundings of the capital and in its flatter lands in the south there are also places of great interest and attractions for bikers of all types, especially XC and marathon routes.
Madrid is a province with a lot of love for cycling and, above all, mountain biking. Even this can be a handicap if what you are looking for are isolated trails with hardly any people. Every weekend there are thousands of cyclists who leave the capital or their towns to train or simply to spend a pleasant morning with their group mates.
Berzosa Route
The Berzosa urbanization, in the municipality of Hoyo de Manzanares, is fortunate to have unique surroundings for practicing mountain biking in all forms. But especially for trail and enduro. It is a succession of trails,
singletracks and descents. A natural bike park to enjoy cycling and give an adrenaline boost to your routes.

Pardo Route
A few minutes from the center of Madrid is the El Pardo estate, a former hunting ground for royalty, with its respective Palace and town. In their mountain area, the
riders from Madrid have known how to set up their particular
bike park to test their stunts.
If you like enduro or even downhill you have to stop by El Pardo and do this route with five descents in a row. The descents are clean, very well banked and with their respective jumps and loopholes for those who want to add a touch of adrenaline to the route. It is advisable to have confidence and experience jumping if you dare with any of the ramps, as well as to bring a double suspension bicycle.

Chorrera del Hervidero Route
Another MTB route quite close to the capital and accessible thanks to its proximity to the A-1 highway. It starts and finishes in San Agustín de Guadalix, in the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama and runs around the Pedrezuela reservoir along very fun roads and trails.
You cross pasture lands, paths within the gorges formed by the Guadalix River and the spectacular vault dam of the reservoir itself, 52 meters high. But the great attraction of the tour is the stop at the Chorrera del Hervidero, a natural waterfall of the Guadalix River between rocks that is well worth a photo to take with you as a good memory of this journey. A rolling route, with some slopes, ideal for a rigid XC bike, although it can also be completed well with a double.

Lozoya Valley
The Lozoya Valley has countless cycle paths and sections surrounded by nature to make the most of mountain biking. We highlight this route with departure and arrival in Rascafría. A route that runs through part of the Guadarrama National Park, around Puerto de Cotos, between large pine forests and some high mountain fir forests.
A somewhat hard route physically and technically accessible, with most of the route made up of forest tracks, although there are also some not very complicated trails where you will have to use the brakes, such as the Horcajuelos. We recommend doing the route in autumn, spring or summer. In winter, many of the areas will be snowy and impassable, as you climb to 1,900 meters of altitude.
