Routes to go out on a mountain bike in the province of Alicante

Alicante is a province that breathes cycling in any of its corners. Successful professional runners and teams have come from this area and it is a training place for high-level teams, both road and MTB. Its orography is very diverse, concentrating mountains and coast in a few kilometers. In addition, its mild climate throughout the year allows for training and cycling routes of all kinds. There is no need to wait for the arrival of spring to enjoy mountain biking in the province of Alicante. The routes are practicable all year round and you will not encounter the inclement weather that can prevent you from cycling in winter in other regions of Spain. There are many inland mountain bike routes through the mountains of Alcoy or Ibi, as well as other flatter ones but of great scenic value in the south (Orihuela, Vinalopó) and on the coast (Benidorm, La Nucía or the rice fields of the Marina Alta ).

Alcoy - Cum del Biscoi

Broken route around Alcoy, in the interior of the province. Visit the places of Racó de Sant Bona Ventura, the surroundings of the Font Roja natural park to culminate in the Alt del Biscoi, one of the highest peaks in the area with 1,163 m of altitude. After reaching the top of Biscoi, we begin to descend on the way back to Alcoy. The route is of a moderate level and combines wide stretches of track, trails, some road and some technical trials both up and down near the top of Biscoi.

Benidorm and Sierra Helada

Benidorm is an Alicante city known worldwide for its beaches and skyscrapers. But that does not mean that it is not attractive for mountain biking through low forest areas and shady paths. This circular route begins from the tourist coastal city that will take you to explore the Marina Baja region, the Sierra Helada, Altea, Callosa d'en Sarrià, La Nucía or the ascent to an intermediate level of Puig Campana. The route is of moderate difficulty, with two significant climbs in the second part of the route, forest areas, scrubland, forest tracks and trails, some of them cobbled and technical.

This marshland is a protected natural area whose main attractions are the wetlands and rice crops. An authentic green oasis rich in flora and fauna in the middle of the arid Alicante coast.
